Exporting to Keynote
NovaMind allows you to export to Keynote by using its built-in Keynote functionality. You do not need to have Keynote installed in order to export to Keynote.
Export options
When exporting, there are several options presented on the save panel to control how the presentation is produced:
Keynote Version and Size:
This section allows you to choose which version of Keynote you are exporting to, and the size of the presentation (in pixels). The presentation will be exported using a White theme - you can change to a different theme from within Keynote if desired.
Mind Map:
Zoom to (x) % of page - When the export is done, the first page of the presentation is the mind map itself. In most situations, you would probably want the mind map to fill the first page of the presentation, but if you want it to take up less room, then change this setting to less than 100%. Note that if your mind map is small, it will be zoomed up, but only to a maximum of 200% of its original size.
Text:
Include hidden branch text - if you turn this option on, even though the mind map you have on the front of the presentation may have some branches hidden, they will still be included in the slides themselves.
Show (x) sub-branches per page. When the export to Keynote is done, each of the first level branches starts a new page of the presentation. The title of the page is the first level branch title, and the rest of the branches are presented as bullets on the page, indented to the appropriate level. There is, however, only a certain amount of space on each page, so this option allows you to limit the number of sub-branches to appear on each page. If a branch has more than that number of sub-branches, additional pages are added with the same heading, and continuing the branches. Note that if a second or subsequent page starts with a sub-branch not immediately below the first level branch, Keynote requires the addition of extra bullet levels from level 1 down to the required level for the branch in order for it to display the branch. in the NovaMind export to Keynote, this is done in such a way as to be invisible to the user - one point empty text with no bullet and no spacing between lines.
Multiply text size by (x) - Due to the nature of presentations, it is likely that you will need to have larger text on your presentation than you have in your mind map, so this option allows you to multiply the size of all the text to go on the text slides by the specified factor.
Powerpoint export
When exporting, there are several options presented on the save panel to control how the presentation is produced:
Zoom to (x) % of page - When the export is done, the first page of the presentation is the mind map itself. In most situations, you would probably want the mind map to fill the first page of the presentation, but if you want it to take up less room, then change this setting to less than 100%. Note that if your mind map is small, it will be zoomed up, but only to a maximum of 200% of its original size.
Include shadows - these are the shadows you can add to the branches in NovaMind. The shadows will be applied to the whole Mind Map picture in all the places you have shadows set.
Include hidden branch text - if you turn this option on, even though the mind map you have on the front of the presentation may have some branches hidden, they will still be included in the slides themselves.
Show (x) sub-branches per page. When the export to PowerPoint is done, each of the first level branches starts a new page of the presentation.
Multiply text size by (x) - Due to the nature of presentations, it is likely that you will need to have larger text on your presentation than you have in your mind map, so this option allows you to multiply the size of all the text to go on the text slides by the specified factor.
When you have set up your options, you can export to your presentation.
Troubleshooting Export to PowerPoint
Q: Why can't I see the fonts in the notes of a document exported to PowerPoint? A: You will only see this if you turn on the outline format display in PowerPoint.
Q: Even when I turn on the PowerPoint outline format display, I can't see the colors of the notes text - why is this? A: PowerPoint doesn't display the colors of the notes text when displayed in the normal layout, but does when you print the notes or switch to notes view mode.
Q: The Japanese text in my mind map comes out as junk - how do I fix this? A: You need to install the Microsoft Language Register by using the Value Pack installer on your Microsoft Office X CD. Drag the application icon for PowerPoint on top of the Microsoft Language Register utility. In the Select the language to enable for pop-up menu, click Japanese. |
